RPM information can also be obtained by using the PBC-Pro OBD option in vehicles which conform to the OBD ISO15765 specification.
STEP 1
Connect VIOLET RPM trigger wire to engine speed signal using one of the options below:
a. Connect to ECU tachometer output
b. Connect to ECU injector pulse output
c. Connect to ECU ignition pulse output
d. Connect to ECU coil pulse output
e. Connect to ECU ignition pulse output
SAFETY WARNING!
Never connect to the coil positive or negative terminals if a Capacitive Discharge Ignition is installed .
Only connect between the ECU and CDI amplifier.
STEP 2
Setup pulse division in menu 5.2 until car tachometer and PBC - PRO rpm display show the same values.
Hint:
While measuring rpm pulses the PBC - PRO will detect erratic pulses and report the errors in menu 5.2
When using an injector signal as an rpm trigger source it is normal to get some errors during acceleration and overrun.
